Atenor to open UP-site, Belgium’s tallest residential tower

2014-06-02 – As scheduled, Atenor Group s.a. will hand over the keys to the UP-site tower to the first occupants in late June. The tower, which is 140 metres and 42 storeys high and has a floor space of 40,000 m2, is located on the banks of the Canal opposite Tour & Taxis, and was designed by the Brussels-based architects A2RC and the French firm Ateliers Lion. UP-site is the tallest residential tower in the country.

The 251 apartments, ranging from 70 to 600m2 and offering exceptional views of the city, have sold extremely well: 90% of those on the first 25 floors are already taken. The tower in fact forms part of a larger project together with 106 apartments with terraces overlooking the water (10,000 m2) and 30,000 m2 of office space, all of which have sold out completely. Foreseeing a trend in favour of moving back into the city, Atenor launched this ambitious construction project four years ago in view of the ongoing rehabilitation of an entire district, between Tour & Taxis and the future contemporary art museum (see opposite, left).

The residents will benefit from various services and facilities, including a concierge service, a cinema, a ‘juniors’ space, interior gardens, parking, a restaurant and a lounge bar. The apartments in the tower will be 45% more energy-efficient than the average Brussels apartment. Atenor also applied this eco-friendly philosophy during the construction work by having more than 10,000 tonnes of materials delivered by waterway. More information: www.up-site.be.

Temporary event venue at the top

Before the keys are officially handed over, the UP-site tower will be accessible to the people of Brussels throughout June. The penthouse on the 41st floor will become a temporary event venue: a 600 m2 space in a New York style created by interior designer Caroline Nohé and made available to companies and individuals wishing to enjoy a unique setting and breath-taking views over Brussels. All events will be fully coordinated by the agency D-side (www.d-sidegroup.com), with expert catering services provided by Yves Mattagne.
