Tourism provision on the increase in the Canal Area

2013-08-28 – VisitBrussels has announced that hotel capacity in Brusselshas risen since the start of last year from 16,700 to 17,420 rooms (an increase of 4.3%). The two most significant additions are in the Canal Area: the Pullman Midi (237 rooms) and Brussels’ first hotel with a view over the Canal, the Meininger (150 rooms and 719 beds).

The figures communicated by the hotel operators for the summer holidays show an average room occupancy rate of 70%, identical to last year. This is a source of satisfaction to VisitBrussels, which has also announced an increase of nearly 4% in the number of tourists to Brusselsin July and August, given the additional beds now available.

Bruxelles-les-Bains, the Brussels Summer Festival and the Foire du Midi have all announced record visitor numbers, and the tourist attractions have not been left behind either, with visitor numbers up by nearly 10%.
