2012-12-12 – The Cycling Regional Express Network (RER-vélo/Fiets-GEN) was presented today by the Flemish Minister for Mobility and Public Works, the Brussels Minister for Public Works and Transport and the Provincial Councillor for Mobility of Flemish Brabant.
It is a cycling network for journeys to and from work or school of around 400 km, between Brussels and the outlying districts, extending over a radius of around 15 km around Brussels. About 51% of such journeys are less than 5 kilometres, and are thus ideal for cycling.
Fifteen cycle routes, including one by the Canal,have been selected for priority installation.
