If you are walking along the canal near Tour& Taxis, you will be surprised to find a steam locomotive on the railway bridge to the Place des Armateurs.
The Port of Brussels wanted to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the railway in Belgium. The location is a few tens of meters from the green path, the starting point in 1835 of the first line of passengers in continental Europe, between Brussels and Mechelen.
The Port of Brussels, SNCB and SNCB Holding, inaugurated in March 18, 2011 this symbol of the railway character of the Port of Brussels. This old locomotive, dated 1923, was active in the port area in Brussels until 1969.
