2013-04-02 – Aquiris has installed 10,000 photovoltaic panels on the 25,000 m² roof of the Brussels North wastewater treatment plant – an area equivalent to five football pitches.
The newly installed panels bring Aquiris’ total installed green energy output to 5 MW, covering a quarter of the station’s energy consumption or the equivalent of the annual consumption of 10,000 people in Brussels. The panels represent an investment of 6 million euros.
This new installation complements the solutions for the production of renewable energy already implemented by Aquiris, which since its inception has employed sophisticated technologies in the field of wastewater treatment in order to optimise energy use and produce a proportion of the electricity and heat used by the plant.
