2015-01-14 – The Brussels regional authorities, the municipal authorities of Anderlecht, Brussels-Cleanliness Agency and the architects Baneton-Garrino today laid the first stone of the waste recovery centre RecyK (a project previously known as Ecopole) by the Canal, between the Rue de Birmingham (102) and Quai Demets (55).
The centre, whose purpose is to recover various types of waste including computer equipment, furniture and household appliances, will create fifty jobs and provide training opportunities for job-seekers in Brussels.
Housed in a former fire extinguisher factory, it will also feature an educational visit route and a cafeteria, and will thus form a pedestrian link between the Canal and the Rue de Birmingham area.
