2013-10-08 – From Thursday 31 October to Sunday 3 November, between 6 pm and 11 pm, the Canal Territory will host the first Brussels Light Festival. This completely free event will feature light installations, performances and a winter barbecue.

The Brussels Light Festival will be held by the Canal, between Square Sainctelette and Place des Armateurs. It is being organised by the Brussels-Capital Region and Brussels Mobility, with the support of the Brussels Minister for Public Works and Transport and the Port of Brussels. The Minister stated on Tuesday that ‘To mark the 20th anniversary of the Port of Brussels, the Region wished to organise a family event around the theme of light and water, which exert a powerful force of attraction for the young and not-so-young. In addition, we wish to show our city-region in a positive light by means of a beautiful event for the general public. Over the last ten years, perceptions of the Canal Territory have undergone a profound shift. The Light Festival will reinforce its status as a centre for employment, housing and recreational activities.’

Route stops: Torre  de  Pisa (Luminarie de Cagna), Welcome Mapping (Mr Beam), Elephantastic (Jimundi), Dancing House (Klaus  Obermaier), Tesla Coil Fight (Lords of Lightning), CanaLazer (Arf & Yes), Skeleton Dance (Skullmapping), Slingshot (Eventattitude), campfire and winter barbecue, Lighthouse (at the top of the Up-site building), pyrotechnic display on the Canal.

Assembly point: go to the Dôme located in front of the Citroën garage to receive a map, a surprise (while stocks last) and information about the route.
