2016.04.13 – First brought to light during the ‘Molenbeek, Capital of Culture 2014’ programme, the love story between Molenbeek and dance continues. In its third year, the MolenDance festival will showcase dancers from all backgrounds – from renowned professionals to amateurs well worth discovering.
The programme, running from 20 to 28 April, includes contemporary dance and hip-hop shows; shows for young audiences and the general public; a danced route around the Town Hall; a great ‘battle’ and a flash mob on the Place Communale; introductory sessions; and the Brussels Tango Festival Opening Gala at Château du Karreveld.
‘MolenDance is a great opportunity to promote the work of the international dance institutes and companies based in Molenbeek, Peeping Tom, Charleroi Danses and Ultima Vez,’ says the mayor. In her view, ‘This event also helps present our municipality in a different light’.
MolenDance is an event produced by the Municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, in partnership with Charleroi Danses, Grand Studio, Dag van de Dans, Vk*, Alerte urbaine, Hidden Power asbl, Peeping Tom, Alma Del Sur asbl, Impulsion, Centrum West, l’Ecole communale n°2, l’Ecole communale n°10 and l’Institut des Ursulines.
