2015-07-14 – Some seventy urban planners from around the world discovered the Canal Area on Monday and Tuesday this week, in connection with a major conference. From 19 to 23 October 2015, the International Association of Town Planners, ISOCARP, is organising its annual World Congress in twelve cities in several countries, including Brussels for Belgium; the final session will be held in Rotterdam.
The Urban Development Agency (ADT-ATO) coordinated and organised the Brussels part of this International Congress: a workshop on the subject ‘How to reconcile local expectations with strong international challenges when renewing a city’. The workshop was held on 19 and 20 October, and shone the spotlight on the initiatives being carried out in the Canal Area. Thus participants discovered the Canal by boat and visited the districts of Molenbeek, the Cultural and Social Cohesion Centre, the new Bel-Vue hotel, the Tour & Taxis site, Greenbizz, Park Farm and other sites of interest.
The speakers’ presentations are available in PDF on the left-side.
